    Default Quick Scouting Question.

    Right, Do your scouts have to take casualties for them to be spotted?
    Me and an alliance meber are having a small debate about it.

    If I sent say, 200 scouts, and then target had 5, I take no casualties, would they get spotted or not?

    You have to lose at least one for them to know they've been scouted.

    If none die they will never know.

    im confused, would the person you scout not know they have been scouted if all there scouts (or any) are killed and if any of their scouts survive they will get a report.

    defending scouts dont get killed

    Ok lets break it down.

    Scenario A

    Defender has 5 scouts
    Attacker has 10 scouts

    Attacker sends his scouts and takes 2 casualties. The defender still has their 5 scouts and knows they have been scouted.
    Scenario B

    Defender has 5 scouts
    Attacker has 1000 scouts

    Attacker sends his scouts and takes no casualties. the defender still has their 5 scouts and does not know they have been scouted.

    Something I noticed playing a teut this server was the ratio of scouts needed to avoid being spotted seems to be lower. It might be down to wall and residence/palace levels, but I even had an incidence where a single scout was not spotted by the defending single scout, and a 5:1 ratio seemed to work pretty well. Last server playing Gaul, I had to go higher than that to avoid detection. I only mention it because last server I had a chat with someone about it, and their experience (as a teuton) didnt tally with mine as a Gaul, but has seemed to tally with my evidence this server as a teuton.

    If you have 1 scout in your village and someone else scouts you with 1 scout - the attacking scout will get a report and the defending one wont know about it!

    i think youll find that 1 defending scout will kill a single attack scout

    Check the attatchment.
    One on one scouting.

    Just did that on an Extended Combat Sim.
    Two scouts, no upgrades or anything.

    nope, not unless its upgraded in the armoury

    1 scout with no upgrades will never see a scout attempt

    Hmm well combat sims being the fount of all knowledge!

    however i have had some one send a scout on reinforce by mistake and it killed his follow up scout so i base my assumptins on that though it obviously doesnt account for any armoury upgrades the player may have had.

    i very rarely send simgle scouts out my self so arnt too familiar with the results

    I have tested it before without the sim but of course the main factor we are missing here is the morale bonus...

    someone with a much higher pop sending 1 scout will have it die against a single one

    mmm didnt know that about the attacking scouts having to take casualties to be noticed, what a noob! & this is my 3rd server.

    Oh well looks like I'll be building a few more scouts
