Thread: State of the Artefacts

  1. #1

    Default State of the Artefacts

A few uk2's ago, Django wrote up a comprehensive arti scoring system. It was less of a 'blanket score' and was more catered to actual alliance benefit. For example: a small academic isn't graded the same as a small confusion. On that basis I have decided to revive the State of the Artefacts Analysis that Django started, using his scoring techniques and catering them to current uk4 (note adjustments have been made). Original post here. - credit & thanks to Django.

Given that uk4 is the first T4.4 server, there are a number of factors that will ultimately effect the artefact defence so the usual artefact defence numbers are somewhat irrelevant.

"For the purposes of this analysis I have devised a point system allocating points to each specific artefact according to how valuable it is for the alliance as a whole to win endgame mainly. It’s a purely subjective judgement that others may disagree with but my reasons are as follows:

    4 points:
The Master Diet – This artefact is in a League of its own in T4. It is accepted wisdom that this artefact is the one of the most valuable in winning endgame. The Ĺ crop consumption for the WW village allows bigger defences and easier feeding than other competing WW villages.
Unique Fool – A lot of people swear by this artefact and believe it is the best as it gives all the good things from the others. You can queue troops when the Ĺ build time effect is on and when the haste effect is on you can hit your enemies long distance etc.
Unique Confusion – As enemies cannot target your TC it allows you to store building plans and small artefacts with some degree of safety. It also makes it hard to chief non-cap hammers.
Unique Academic – Reduces build time in all barracks, stables and workshop by half and you can also build a secret WWk with this arti.
Unique Scout – Perfect for Scouting WW villages
Unique Architects – The grand ole WW artefact of T3.6. In the past it was considered useful as it strengthened the wall against rammers. In T4 it takes second place after the Master Diet in terms of usefulness for endgame.
Unique Haste – X2 speed =Can strike anywhere, anytime – good for killing WWks in the night.

    3 points:
Large Haste: X1.5 speed =Can strike most places quickly –good for killing WWks in the night.
Large Diet: -25% crop consumption is a good WW arti to hold if you cannot get the Master Diet
Large Academic: Reduces build time in all barracks, stables and workshop by 25% and you can also build a secret WWk with this arti.
Large Scout – Good for Scouting WW villages
Large Storage – Can be shared amongst the alliance by letting the village it is in be chiefed – will allow several WWk builders to build level 18/19 cropfields in their cap to feed large troop numbers

    2 points:
Large Architects – Strengthens walls and buildings against attacks but not as much as the Unique architects. Has limited value to a WW holder.
Large confusion – allows you to have huge crannies but it doesn’t offer the protection for plans and small artifacts that the unique has as the Treasure Chamber CAN be targeted.
Small Diet – Good for a WWk builder
Small Academic – Good for a WWk builder and can be shared amongst alliance
Small storage – Good for a WWk builder and can be shared amongst alliance
Small Scout – Good for scouting WWs and WWk builders
Small Haste – Good for attacking and raiding

    1 point:
Small Fool – Has negative effect as well as positive – makes it hard to plan ahead
Small Architect – Makes buildings stronger in one village, cannot be used in WW village.
Small confusion – Allows huge crannies in one village but Treasure Chamber can be targeted.

you can tell, the points system is still naff, and deserves the criticisms it receives each time artes come around. 2 points for a small diet or AA... 4 pts for a unique confusion.

Unique confusion is brilliant. You'll look down upon it only until you've held it

it isn't worth the combined score of a small diet and AA, nor is it on a par with a unique diet, AA or fool. You can still be zero'd, you can still have your hammer caught napping. It has it's benefits, which are obvious, but they aren't worth 4pts.

And I attempt to remind people each time arti's come around that this is based on an overall alliance benefit. A small is by nature limited to one village, a large to an account and unique containing similar benefits of the small but account-wide. The benefit U-Rivals could have is higher than that of a S-AA could. It's probably less effective up until plans are released but it's versatile enough to make it a sought after unique, even though it doesn't provide a military advantage (like a haste, diet or AA).

I was going to bring up the unique rivals, along with a few others, but James is right. The unique rival's really is unique, providing a benefit that nothing else can replicate.

Almost halves the looses but I'm guessing he wanted it in a certain village. Wouldn't it make more sense to build another TC probably cheaper too

    Yeah, even for a large/unique - 8m difference in losses, 3.5m for a lvl 20 TC

+ the time to retrain it. 2 weeks with t1 helms, no gb/gs. That said with the new found arte there's a lot of raiding that will help make up for it

Nice work hoops and thanks for sharing the report. Only annoying thing is that the projections were about 5 troops off the real defence numbers, so I've got some more sims to type out later *sigh*

lvl 20 tc is in a diff village to army, had to be sent seperate would of been much less losses with the horn and offence bonus

    - - - Updated - - -

also at the time we wernt going for a unique, wanted a large haste. So not sending the hero wouldnt of made much difference. But the unique spawned so close we couldnt not go for it
